Hospital Overview

Medipol Mega University Hospital is one of Turkey’s largest academic medical centres and the country’s biggest private healthcare complex. Bringing together four specialised hospitals within a single campus, it combines university-based medicine with advanced technologies to deliver highly complex surgical and medical care.

  • Founded in 2012, Medipol Mega University Hospital is Turkey’s largest private healthcare complex. The campus integrates four specialised hospitals: general medicine, oncology, cardiovascular surgery, and dentistry. Established by Istanbul Medipol University, the hospital treats more than 400,000 patients annually and provides international patients with access to academic medicine, innovation, and comprehensive support services.

  • The hospital is recognised for expertise in transplantation, oncology, and cardiovascular surgery. Its comprehensive cancer centre combines radiation oncology, medical oncology, and surgical oncology within a single treatment pathway. Bone marrow, kidney, and liver transplant procedures are performed by experienced multidisciplinary teams. The cardiovascular centre provides advanced care ranging from paediatric heart surgery to complex aortic procedures.

  • Medipol Mega features one of the most advanced medical infrastructures in the region. The hospital is the only medical centre in Turkey equipped with SPECT-CT technology capable of completing full cardiac imaging in approximately five minutes. Surgeons work in 32 modern operating theatres supported by StealthStation neuronavigation systems and intraoperative MRI technology. Treatment options include the da Vinci Xi robotic platform, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, and HIFU technology for selected conditions.

  • More than 1,500 healthcare professionals work across the Medipol Mega campus. The Bone Marrow Transplant Centre is led by Professor Sema Anak, who performed one of Turkey’s pioneering bone marrow transplant procedures. As part of a university medical environment, specialists actively integrate new research findings into clinical practice. More than 25,000 international patients receive treatment here each year, supported by dedicated medical interpreters and international patient coordinators.

  • Medipol Mega became the first private hospital in the world to receive JCI Academic Medical Center status, recognising excellence in both patient care and clinical research. In 2017, it was also the first hospital in Turkey to achieve HIMSS Level 6 certification, reflecting its advanced digital healthcare infrastructure. Electronic medical records and automated medication systems help enhance patient safety and reduce the risk of medical errors, making the hospital a trusted choice for international patients.
